Egg and Ham Soy Sauce Fried Rice
Super Simple Fried Rice Recipe! Solve Your Dinner Dilemma with Egg and Ham Soy Sauce Fried Rice
Feeling too tired after work to cook a feast? When dining alone, who needs a lavish meal? Let’s whip up some ‘Egg and Ham Soy Sauce Fried Rice’ with simple ingredients to satisfy your evening hunger!
Ingredients- 1 bowl of cooked rice (black or white rice)
- 1/4 piece of ham (Spam or Losham, etc.)
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- Pinch of black pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare all the ingredients for a delicious meal.
Step 2
Start with a bowl of freshly cooked, warm rice. Using black rice adds a wonderful nutty flavor that makes it even tastier, but regular white rice works perfectly fine too! (I personally love the nutty taste of black rice.)
Step 3
Choose your favorite type of ham, such as Spam or Losham. I used Losham that I had leftover in the fridge. Adjust the number of eggs to your liking based on the amount of rice (1-2 eggs is usually good). You only need one tablespoon of soy sauce – I just dipped the spoon for the photo. (Tip: Sprinkle a little black pepper for enhanced flavor – don’t skip this!)
Step 4
Dice the ham into bite-sized pieces and set aside on a plate.
Step 5
Heat a large pan or pot over medium heat and add cooking oil. (Use whatever cooking vessel you find most convenient.)
Step 6
The reason I transferred the rice to a large bowl is for this next step!
Step 7
Crack the egg into the bowl with the rice. Using chopsticks or a spatula, quickly mix and toss the rice until each grain is coated with the egg. This coating helps the rice grains stay separate and fluffy when fried.
Step 8
Once the pan is hot, add the egg-coated rice and stir-fry. Cooking over high heat ensures the rice grains don’t clump together and become perfectly fluffy.
Step 9
As the rice fries, it will turn a lovely golden brown and release a wonderful aroma. It will start looking quite appetizing!
Step 10
When the rice is nicely browned, add the diced ham to the pan and continue to stir-fry. The ham will get slightly crisped in the oil, adding another layer of deliciousness.
Step 11
Once the ham starts to cook through and turn a nice golden color, prepare one tablespoon of soy sauce. Pour it around the edges of the pan.
Step 12
Now it’s almost done! Just one tablespoon of soy sauce dramatically deepens the color of the rice and adds a wonderful savory depth. Stir everything together well.
Step 13
(Reference Photo) This is some savory soybean paste soup with chard that I made yesterday morning. It makes for a more complete and satisfying meal when paired with the fried rice.
Step 14
With this simple yet delicious fried rice, you won’t need any other side dishes! You’ve successfully created a satisfying meal that’s both tasty and nutritious.
