Pizza Ingredients- 2 Tortillas
- 3 Cherry Tomatoes
- 1/2 cup Mozzarella Cheese (approx. 50g)
- 5 Fresh Basil Leaves
- 1 tbsp Dried Basil
Sauce- Store-bought Tomato Spaghetti Sauce
- Store-bought Tomato Spaghetti Sauce
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Take 2 tortillas from the freezer and let them thaw at room temperature. Wash 3 cherry tomatoes and cut them in half. Harvest about 5 thumb-sized fresh basil leaves from your plant or use store-bought. Allow about half a small rice bowl of mozzarella cheese to come to room temperature to soften.
Step 2
For this simple recipe, we’re using a store-bought tomato spaghetti sauce. If you have homemade sauce, that would be even better!
Step 3
Place a frying pan over medium heat. Once the pan is warm to the touch (hold your hand a few inches above it), place one tortilla in the pan. Keep the heat at a medium setting to prevent burning.
Step 4
Evenly sprinkle the prepared mozzarella cheese over the tortilla, extending close to the edges. Then, place the second tortilla on top of the cheese.
Step 5
Spread the tomato spaghetti sauce evenly over the second tortilla using a spoon. Sprinkle dried basil over the sauce for an aromatic touch. The basil powder will enhance the pizza’s overall flavor profile.
Step 6
Arrange the halved cherry tomatoes symmetrically on top of the sauce, with the cut side facing up, resembling domes. Generously sprinkle more mozzarella cheese over the tomatoes for an extra cheesy finish.
Step 7
Cover the frying pan with a lid and cook for about 4 minutes. Your Margherita pizza is ready when the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the tortilla is golden and slightly crisp! For the fresh basil, add it after the pizza has cooled slightly; this will help preserve its vibrant green color and fresh aroma.
