Sweet Glazed Carrots
Carrot Glace: An Elegant Carrot Dish to Elevate Your Meal
These sweet glazed carrots, also known as Carrot Glace, are a delightful addition to any meal. They serve beautifully as a side dish for steaks or fish, or can be enjoyed on their own as a flavorful banchan (Korean side dish). Their tender texture and subtle sweetness with a hint of spice make them truly special.
Ingredients- 2 Carrots
- 2 Tbsp Muscovado sugar (or dark brown sugar)
- 1/2 tsp Ground cinnamon
- 1 Tbsp Cooking oil
- 1/4 cup Water
- Pinch of salt
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Begin by thoroughly washing and peeling the carrots. Slice them into uniform, round pieces about 1 cm thick. You can opt for slightly thicker slices if you prefer a bit more bite.
Step 2
Heat the cooking oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add the sliced carrots and sauté for 2-3 minutes, stirring gently to prevent sticking. The goal is to lightly coat the carrots with oil until they become slightly translucent.
Step 3
Once the carrots are coated in oil, add 1/4 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of Muscovado sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Stir everything together well. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and let the carrots simmer gently for 10-15 minutes, or until they are tender and the liquid has reduced to a syrupy glaze. Stir occasionally to ensure even cooking and prevent burning. Continue simmering until a beautiful glossy glaze forms.
