Dough Ingredients- 1 packet Hotteok mix
- 120ml warm water
- Dry yeast (included in Hotteok mix)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, gather all your ingredients. To prepare the Vienna sausages, briefly blanch them in hot water, then rinse under cold water. This helps remove excess oil and makes them plump.
Step 2
Drain the canned corn thoroughly. In a small bowl, mix the corn with a little mayonnaise and a pinch of black pepper. This creates a sweet and creamy filling.
Step 3
In a large bowl, empty the entire packet of hotteok mix. Add the dry yeast that comes with the mix. Pour in the warm water (about 120ml) and stir with a spatula or your hands until no dry powder remains.
Step 4
Once the ingredients are somewhat combined, knead the dough with your hands for at least 5 minutes, pushing and folding it inside the bowl. Kneading until the dough is smooth and elastic is key to achieving a chewy texture.
Step 5
Place the kneaded dough in a bowl, cover it with plastic wrap, and let it proof in a warm place for about 20 minutes. I placed mine in a warm spot covered with a blanket. Proofing success depends on temperature and humidity, so find a cozy spot for your dough.
Step 6
After 20 minutes, check if the dough has doubled in size. If it has puffed up significantly, the proofing was successful. It should feel soft and airy to the touch.
Step 7
Gently punch down the proofed dough with your hands to release the trapped air. This step contributes to a softer crumb.
Step 8
Divide the dough into portions, roughly the size of one tablespoon (about 30g each). Roll each portion into a ball, then flatten it slightly. Make a small cut in the center with a knife to create a space for the sausage.
Step 9
Press a prepared Vienna sausage firmly into the cut in the dough. Ensure it’s securely embedded.
Step 10
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Arrange the mini sausage buns on the prepared sheet, leaving some space between them so they don’t touch while baking.
Step 11
Top each bun with a spoonful of the corn mixture you prepared earlier. Sprinkle a generous amount of shredded mozzarella cheese over the corn. The cheese will melt and become wonderfully gooey.
Step 12
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 12-13 minutes, or until the buns are golden brown. Adjust baking time based on your oven’s performance.
Step 13
Immediately after removing them from the oven, drizzle mayonnaise and ketchup in a zigzag pattern over the warm buns for decoration. If you have parsley flakes, sprinkle them on top for an extra touch of color.
Step 14
Voila! Your delicious mini sausage buns are ready!
Step 15
Enjoy them while they’re warm for the best chewy and soft texture. They’re perfect as a snack for kids or an accompaniment to drinks. Enjoy your tasty creation!
