Microwave Super Quick Steamed Egg

Don’t worry about making fluffy, ‘bomb’ style steamed eggs which can be tricky! After a few attempts, I’ve perfected my own style: a super-fast steamed egg that’s quick, easy, and delicious. It’s perfect for busy mornings or when you need a simple side dish. Enjoy the harmony of soft and slightly chewy textures!
Ingredients- 3 fresh eggs
- 1.5 times the volume of eggs in water
- 2 Tbsp chopped green onions
Seasoning- 3/4 tsp fine salt
- 3/4 tsp fine salt
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, crack 3 fresh eggs into a bowl and add 3/4 tsp of fine salt. You can adjust the amount of salt to your preference.
Step 2
Gently whisk the eggs until just combined, being careful not to create too much foam. Over-whisking can lead to bubbles in the finished dish, affecting the texture.
Step 3
Now, let’s prepare the water. You’ll need about 1.5 times the volume of your eggs. For 3 eggs (approx. 150ml), prepare about 225ml of water. Using hot water can help achieve a smoother texture.
Step 4
Slowly pour the hot water into the whisked egg mixture. Stir gently as you pour to ensure everything is well combined and smooth.
Step 5
Pour the egg and water mixture into a microwave-safe dish. Cover it loosely with plastic wrap or a lid, and microwave for 2 minutes. (Based on a 700W microwave).
Step 6
After 2 minutes, check the consistency of the steamed egg. If it’s not fully set, generously sprinkle the chopped green onions on top. The fresh aroma of the green onions will enhance the flavor.
Step 7
I prefer a slightly chewier texture, so I microwaved it for an additional 2 minutes after adding the green onions. If you like a very soft and delicate texture, microwave for just 1 to 1.5 minutes longer. Your delicious microwave steamed egg is ready! You can also add a drizzle of sesame oil or a sprinkle of sesame seeds for extra flavor.
