Curry-Spiced Grilled Beltfish
Delicious Grilled Beltfish with Curry Powder – A Fantastic Baked Fish Dish
Today, I’m sharing a recipe for Curry-Spiced Grilled Beltfish, a real treat for your taste buds! Following a day off yesterday, I tackled an enormous pile of photos today, realizing I’d spent hours snapping pictures for Instagram. To start the day off right and with plenty of energy, I prepared a hearty breakfast, including this grilled beltfish, spinach soup, and shrimp fried rice. The grilled beltfish and shrimp fried rice were perfect for photos, so I snapped more shots for those posts too. Haha, I intended to post two recipes today, but somehow… I’m barely going to manage one! This curry-spiced beltfish, however, is absolutely worth the effort.
Ingredients- Beltfish (cleaned)
- All-purpose flour (for coating)
- Curry powder
- Cooking oil (or olive oil)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, trim off the fins from the beltfish. Rinse the fish thoroughly under cold running water. Pat it completely dry with paper towels. Then, evenly coat the entire surface of the beltfish with all-purpose flour. Applying a thin layer of flour will result in a wonderfully crispy texture after grilling.
Step 2
Now, heat a pan over medium heat and add a generous amount of cooking oil. Once the pan is sufficiently hot, carefully place the floured beltfish into the pan. Using a dedicated fish grill pan or a heavy-bottomed skillet will ensure even heat distribution, leading to a more delicious result. (Note: If you have a fish grilling mat, it can be helpful for reducing lingering smells and keeping your pan cleaner.)
Step 3
Grill the beltfish over medium-low heat until it’s golden brown and cooked through on both sides. Because it’s coated with curry powder, it may brown more quickly than plain beltfish, so keep a close eye on the heat. Continue grilling until the flesh turns opaque and flakes easily, about 5-7 minutes per side, depending on thickness. You’ll smell the fragrant curry aroma as it cooks.
Step 4
Once perfectly grilled, arrange the curry-spiced beltfish on a serving plate. To make the dish even more appealing, you can garnish it with a sprinkle of chopped scallions or a few sprigs of cilantro. This simple yet special curry-spiced grilled beltfish is sure to make your mealtime more enjoyable!
