A Delightful Shrimp Bruschetta Sandwich: The Perfect Combination of Basil Pesto and Balsamic Glaze
This is a simple yet elegant shrimp open-faced sandwich, perfect for a light breakfast or a quick brunch. The combination of buttery toasted bread, vibrant basil pesto, and tangy balsamic glaze is absolutely delightful and creates a burst of flavor in every bite.
Ingredients- 1 slice of baguette bread
- 3 frozen shrimp
- 1.5 Tbsp basil pesto
- 1 Tbsp butter
- A drizzle of balsamic glaze
- 2 pinches of salt
- 1 pinch of oregano (dried)
- A pinch of black pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Rinse the frozen shrimp under cold running water to thaw. Pat them dry thoroughly with paper towels. In a small bowl, combine the shrimp with 2 pinches of salt, 1 pinch of dried oregano, and a pinch of black pepper. Gently toss to ensure the shrimp are evenly seasoned. The aromatic oregano will complement the shrimp beautifully.
Step 2
Slice the baguette into your desired thickness. Heat a skillet over medium heat and toast the bread slices until golden brown and crispy on both sides. Aim for a delightful contrast between the crunchy exterior and the soft interior.
Step 3
Add 1 tablespoon of butter to the same skillet over medium-low heat. Allow the butter to melt and become fragrant. The butter will add a rich, savory depth to both the bread and the shrimp.
Step 4
Add the seasoned shrimp to the skillet with the melted butter. Sauté the shrimp, tossing them gently to coat with the butter, until they turn pink and opaque, about 2-3 minutes. Be careful not to overcook, as this can make the shrimp tough.
Step 5
Generously spread a layer of basil pesto onto each slice of the toasted baguette. The vibrant green pesto, with its fresh basil aroma, is a key flavor component that pairs wonderfully with the bread.
Step 6
Arrange the butter-sautéed shrimp attractively on top of the basil pesto-smeared baguette slices. The colorful shrimp make the sandwich visually appealing.
Step 7
Finish by drizzling a small amount of balsamic glaze over the shrimp. The sweet and tangy glaze adds a final touch of complexity and brightness, balancing the flavors of the pesto and shrimp. For an extra touch, you can sprinkle some chopped parsley on top.
