Super Easy Air Fryer Corn Cheese
Homemade Corn Cheese in a Flash: The Ultimate Air Fryer Recipe (ft. Aluminum Foil Tray)
As a mom who loves recreating delicious restaurant dishes at home, I’m always experimenting with new recipes. Corn cheese was a cherished side dish from my childhood visits to seafood restaurants, and it was always incredibly tasty! While many think you need a stovetop griddle or an oven to make it, I discovered a fantastic alternative with my air fryer. It has since become a staple side dish at our house! This recipe is so simple, perfect for both kids and adults, and requires minimal effort.
Main Ingredients- 1 can corn, drained
- 3 Tbsp mayonnaise (adjust to taste)
- 0.5 Tbsp sugar
- Pinch of black pepper
- Pinch of salt (optional, adjust to taste)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, thoroughly drain the canned corn using a sieve. It’s important to remove as much liquid as possible to ensure the corn cheese has the best flavor and texture, preventing it from becoming watery.
Step 2
In a bowl, combine the drained corn with 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise, 0.5 tablespoon of sugar, and a pinch of black pepper. Mix everything well until the corn is evenly coated with the seasoning. Feel free to adjust the amount of mayonnaise to your preference, or add a small pinch of salt if you like. This simple mixture is the key to that delightful sweet and savory flavor.
Step 3
Prepare a heatproof dish for your corn cheese. Don’t worry if you don’t have an oven-safe dish! We’ll use a handy aluminum foil tray. These are commonly found when ordering baked pasta or pizzas. Choose one with a decent depth, about 5cm deep and 14.5cm in diameter, similar to the one I used. For larger batches, a rectangular aluminum lunch tray works wonderfully. My son, Hodul, loves it so much we often need a bigger size!
Step 4
Fill the aluminum tray with the seasoned corn, about two-thirds full. Avoid overfilling, as this can prevent the heat from penetrating evenly and properly melting the cheese throughout.
Step 5
Generously sprinkle your favorite cheese over the corn. Shredded pizza cheese or mozzarella cheese works great. The more cheese, the richer and more satisfying the final dish will be!
Step 6
Finally, sprinkle some parsley flakes on top for a touch of color and herbaceous flavor. This not only makes the dish look more appealing but also adds a fresh aroma.
Step 7
Place the prepared corn cheese in your air fryer, preheated to 180°C (356°F), and cook for about 7-8 minutes. Cooking times may vary depending on your air fryer model, so keep an eye on it. You’re looking for the cheese to be nicely melted and lightly golden brown.
Step 8
And there you have it! A delicious, cheesy corn delight ready to be enjoyed. My son Hodul can’t wait, and neither can I! Look at that beautiful, melty cheese pull!
