Main Ingredients

  • 1 Kabocha squash
  • 3 slices of cheese
  • 4 Tbsp breadcrumbs
  • 1 can of Spam or luncheon meat (small size)

Begin by thoroughly washing the kabocha squash under running water to remove any dirt or debris from the skin.

Slice off the top of the kabocha squash to create a lid, then use a spoon to scoop out and discard the seeds and stringy pulp from the inside. You can set the removed pulp aside if desired. Fill the hollowed-out kabocha with the filling ingredients. Dice the canned meat into bite-sized pieces and layer it inside, followed by breadcrumbs and cheese, filling it generously.

Place the stuffed kabocha squash into a rice cooker and steam for 30 minutes. If you don’t have a rice cooker, you can steam it in a steamer basket over medium heat for approximately 30 minutes.
