Ingredients

  • 1 cup cooked rice (warm)
  • 1 can Spam or premium luncheon meat (small size)
  • 5 large eggs
  • 2 sheets of kimbap seaweed
  • Pinch of salt, a drizzle of sesame oil, a sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare your Spam or luncheon meat. It’s best to use a small can for making the heart shape. You’ll use half of the can for the heart kimbap and the other half for the spam rolled omelet. For the specific cutting method, please refer to the video! =ㅅ=// (Refer to video)

Step 2

Next, prepare the egg mixture. Crack 5 eggs into a bowl and whisk them together thoroughly. To ensure a smooth texture, it’s a good idea to strain the egg mixture through a fine-mesh sieve. ㅎ’ㅅ’

Step 3

Now, let’s season the rice. In a bowl with the warm cooked rice, add a pinch of salt, a drizzle of sesame oil, and some toasted sesame seeds. Mix them in gently. You don’t need to make it too salty; aim for a subtle seasoning, just enough to notice the salt. =ㅅ=// Remember, the Spam will add its own saltiness later, so avoid over-salting the rice now. If it’s perfectly seasoned now, it might be too salty once the Spam is added. ㅎ’ㅅ’//

Step 4

Now, it’s time to pan-fry the Spam. Place the prepared Spam slices in a non-stick pan and cook until golden brown and slightly crispy on all sides. Frying it well will enhance its flavor and texture.

Step 5

Next, take just a tiny amount of the prepared egg mixture and scramble it in a pan. You don’t need much. This scrambled egg will be mixed into the rice. (Mix the scrambled egg into the rice~)

Step 6

Now, we need to cut the fried Spam into the heart shape. This step is a bit tricky to explain solely through text. I apologize, everyone, but to get the perfect heart shape, referring to the video is the easiest and most accurate method. =ㅅ=////

Step 7

Cut one sheet of kimbap seaweed in half. Place the prepared Spam pieces onto one half of the seaweed sheet and roll it up tightly. The technique for rolling the Spam with the seaweed can also be found in the video! (Refer to video for rolling method)

Step 8

Spread a layer of the seasoned rice over the Spam roll you just made to create the heart shape. Then, take the other half of the seaweed sheet, spread rice evenly on it, place the Spam heart inside, and roll it up. And that’s it – your heart Spam kimbap is complete! ㅎ’ㅅ’///

Step 9

Finally, let’s make the Spam rolled omelet. Lightly oil a pan, pour in the egg mixture, place the Spam pieces inside, and carefully roll it up.
