Homemade Fresh Plum Juice
Create Fresh Plum Juice: Perfect Summer Drink
We received a generous bounty of pesticide-free plums from our garden! We’re excited to create various treats with them, and this fresh plum juice is our first delicious endeavor. Let’s make this simple and refreshing summer beverage together. It’s incredibly easy and quick to prepare!
Ingredients- 4 ripe plums
- 100g ice (about 2/3 of a cup)
- 50ml water
- 30g sugar syrup (or honey/sugar as a substitute)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, thoroughly wash the plums. Soak them in water with a splash of vinegar for about 10 minutes, then rinse them under cool running water. Pat them dry and carefully cut them in half to remove the pits. You’ll only need the plum flesh for this recipe.
Step 2
Place the pitted plum flesh from the 4 plums into your blender. If the plums are very large, you might want to chop them into smaller pieces before adding them to the blender for easier processing.
Step 3
To achieve the desired consistency, add 50ml of water to the blender. You can adjust the amount of water slightly depending on the juiciness of your plums and how thick or thin you prefer your juice.
Step 4
For a touch of sweetness, add 30g of sugar syrup. If you don’t have sugar syrup, feel free to substitute it with honey or regular sugar. Adjust the sweetness to your personal preference.
Step 5
Now, add 100g of ice to the blender. This is roughly enough ice to fill about two-thirds of a standard drinking glass. Ice is essential for a perfectly refreshing summer drink!
Step 6
Secure the lid on your blender and blend all the ingredients until smooth and well combined. Blend for about 1-2 minutes, or until the plum skins are completely broken down. Blending with the skins on is a great way to incorporate extra fiber!
Step 7
Carefully pour the beautifully colored, freshly blended plum juice into your serving glass. Look at that vibrant hue!
Step 8
Now for the fun part: garnishing your drink! Get creative by adding a sprig of mint, a slice of fresh plum, or even a light dusting of powdered sugar for an extra special touch. (If your plums were large, you might have saved a small slice for decoration!)
Step 9
Voila! Your homemade fresh plum juice is ready. It’s perfectly sweet, delightfully tart, and bursting with the refreshing flavor of ripe plums. Enjoy this healthy and delicious drink to beat the summer heat!
