  • 1/2 cup water (approx. 100ml)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Hello everyone! Today, we’re going to make ‘Snow-Flower Dumplings’, which are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and look absolutely beautiful, following Chef Paik Jong Won’s recipe. They are perfect as a snack for kids or as an accompaniment to drinks!

Step 1

Step 2

First, let’s prepare the batter for the snow-flower crust. In a bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of olive oil, 1 tablespoon of pancake mix, and 1/2 cup of water. Whisk well until smooth and there are no lumps. The consistency should be neither too thin nor too thick; it should flow gently when scooped with a spoon.

Step 2

Step 3

Now, it’s time to prepare the frying pan. Place 9 frozen dumplings in a dry frying pan (without any oil), making sure they have space between them. Then, place the pan over medium-low heat to preheat. Placing the dumplings first and then turning on the heat helps prevent them from sticking to the pan.

Step 3

Step 4

As the frying pan heats up and you start to hear a ‘crackling’ sound, it’s time to pour the batter! Drizzle the prepared pancake mix batter evenly around the dumplings and also over the top. It’s important to pour it so that it covers the dumplings.

Step 4

Step 5

Once the batter is poured, immediately cover the frying pan with a lid. When covered, the steam generated inside will cook the batter, and you’ll hear a ‘bubbling’ sound. Beautiful, lace-like holes will form, resembling a flower. Cook over high heat for about 4 minutes. Continue cooking until the dumplings are golden brown and the crust is crispy.

Step 5

Step 6

Alright, let’s take out the finished snow-flower dumplings! The crust is very crispy, so the dumplings can break easily, handle with care. Instead of trying to lift the dumplings directly with a spatula, it’s safer and prettier to place a plate over the frying pan and flip the entire pan over to transfer the dumplings onto the plate. This way, you’ll have perfectly crispy, tender, and beautifully shaped snow-flower dumplings! Enjoy your delicious creation!
