Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Hello! Today, I’m going to show you how to make nurungji, a beloved Korean snack, very easily and quickly using an air fryer. Making it with freshly cooked rice will result in an even more savory and delicious nurungji.

Step 1

Step 2

Line your air fryer basket or tray with parchment paper. Then, spread the cooked rice evenly and thinly over the parchment paper. It’s important to spread it thinly so that all the grains are exposed to the air, which helps it get crispy.

Step 2

Step 3

If the rice is too sticky and difficult to spread, lightly moisten your hands with water and then spread the rice. A little water can help coat the rice grains, preventing them from clumping and aiding in spreading them thinly. Be careful not to use too much water.

Step 3

Step 4

Once you have spread the rice thinly and evenly on the parchment paper like this, you’re almost done preparing for delicious nurungji! Isn’t it much simpler than you thought?

Step 4

Step 5

Carefully place the parchment paper with the spread rice into the preheated air fryer. Set the temperature to 180°C (350°F) and cook for about 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, flip the nurungji over and cook for another 10 minutes at 180°C (350°F) until the other side is golden brown.

Step 5

Step 6

If you prefer your nurungji a bit more golden and crispier, you can increase the cooking time by 1-2 minutes. The cooking time might vary slightly depending on your air fryer model and the thickness of the rice, so keep an eye on it and adjust as needed. Once it’s golden and crispy, your delicious nurungji is ready to be enjoyed immediately! It’s also wonderful served with a warm cup of tea.
