- A little bit of bean sprouts
- Bell peppers (various colors)
- A little bit of broccoli
Seasoning & Rice- 2-3 Tbsp store-bought seasoned tofu sauce (or soy sauce/vinegar/sugar)
- 1 Tbsp Mayonnaise
- A pinch of salt
- A pinch of sugar
- 2 bowls of warm cooked rice
- 2-3 Tbsp store-bought seasoned tofu sauce (or soy sauce/vinegar/sugar)
- 1 Tbsp Mayonnaise
- A pinch of salt
- A pinch of sugar
- 2 bowls of warm cooked rice
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Wash all ingredients thoroughly and prepare them. Slice the cucumber lengthwise for wrapping, and cut the ham, shiso leaves, and bell peppers into appropriate sizes.
Step 2
Using a peeler or vegetable slicer, thinly slice the cucumber lengthwise. Place the cucumber slices in a bowl, sprinkle with a pinch of salt and sugar, and let them sit for about 10 minutes to draw out moisture. After draining, carefully pat dry with paper towels.
Step 3
Whisk the eggs and cook them into thin omelets. Let them cool and then slice them thinly. Cut the broccoli into bite-sized florets, boil in lightly salted water for 1-2 minutes, then rinse in cold water and drain. Briefly blanch the chives in boiling water, rinse in cold water, and squeeze out excess moisture. Finely chop the blanched broccoli and chives.
Step 4
In a bowl with the warm rice, mix in the store-bought seasoned tofu sauce (or your prepared seasoning) and the chopped broccoli. Adjust the sauce to your taste. Form the seasoned rice into bite-sized balls.
Step 5
Place a slice of grilled ham and a piece of egg omelet on top of each rice ball. You can also use shiso leaves instead of ham for a fresh touch. (Optional)
Step 6
Gently press more rice on top to cover the ham and egg, shaping it neatly. Use a chive stem to tie around the rice roll to secure it. (If you don’t have chives, seaweed strips work well too.)
Step 7
Prepare the long cucumber slices, ensuring they are well-drained. Squeezing out the moisture is crucial to prevent the rolls from falling apart.
Step 8
Carefully wrap each rice roll with the prepared cucumber slices. Overlap the cucumber slices slightly as you wrap to ensure they stay in place and look attractive.
Step 9
Julienne the bell peppers finely. In a small bowl, combine the julienned bell peppers with 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise and a pinch of salt. Toss gently to coat.
Step 10
Garnish the cucumber-wrapped rice rolls with the mayonnaise-dressed bell pepper strips. Finally, add some fresh bean sprouts for color and texture. Your vibrant and delicious Ham Rolls with Rice are now ready to be enjoyed!
