Chewy Stir-Fried Ramen
A Unique Take on Stir-Fried Ramen
Craving ramen without broth? Try this slightly stir-fried version! Made with no special sauce, just the ramen packet seasoning and a few vegetables, it transforms into an extraordinary dish. Enjoy the delightful texture and savory flavor!
Main Ingredients- 1 packet of ramen
- 1 handful of onion (or green onion)
- A little grated Parmesan cheese
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, bring a pot of water to a boil and add one packet of ramen. Cook the noodles slightly less than the package instructions suggest, aiming for a chewy, firm texture (‘kkodul’ in Korean). Drain them immediately when they reach this stage.
Step 2
Quickly rinse the cooked noodles under cold running water. This step cools them down, preventing them from becoming mushy and helping to maintain their delightful chewy texture.
Step 3
Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and add a generous amount of olive oil or cooking oil. Add the sliced onion (or green onion) and stir-fry until fragrant. Then, add the ramen’s dried vegetable packet and half a teaspoon of the ramen soup powder. Stir-fry together to enhance the flavors.
Step 4
Once the vegetables are slightly sautéed, add the rinsed noodles to the pan. Stir-fry the noodles, ensuring they don’t stick to the pan, until they become dry and chewy. If the pan seems too dry, add a little more oil to prevent the noodles from burning and to achieve the desired texture.
Step 5
When the noodles are almost fully stir-fried, add the remaining half teaspoon of ramen soup powder. Continue to stir-fry, mixing well to coat the noodles evenly. You can adjust the amount of soup powder to your taste.
Step 6
Continue stir-frying for a bit longer, ensuring all ingredients are well combined and the ramen is perfectly cooked. This final stir-fry will bring all the flavors together.
Step 7
For a final touch, sprinkle some grated Parmesan cheese over the top. The nutty, savory flavor of the cheese adds an extra layer of deliciousness to your stir-fried ramen.
