Peach Iced Tea Ingredients- 1/2 ripe peach
- 4 Tbsp sugar
- 1 Tbsp lemon juice
- 3 black tea bags
- 500ml hot water
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Begin by preparing one peach. Half of a peach is sufficient for this recipe, but feel free to add more according to your preference. Wash the peach thoroughly under running water.
Step 2
You can choose to peel the peach or leave the skin on. Leaving the skin on can add a richer aroma and texture to your iced tea, so it’s a matter of personal preference.
Step 3
Remove the pit from the peach, then finely dice the flesh, including the skin if you’re keeping it on. Mince it finely, similar to how you would chop an onion. This small size helps the peach release its juices and meld beautifully with the sugar and tea.
Step 4
Add 4 tablespoons of sugar to the finely diced peaches. The amount of sugar can be adjusted based on the natural sweetness of your peaches and your desired level of sweetness.
Step 5
Next, incorporate 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice. Lemon juice enhances the peach’s sweetness and adds a refreshing zing. Mix the sugar and lemon juice evenly with the peaches. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 10 minutes. This marinating step allows the peaches to macerate and release their delicious syrup.
Step 6
Prepare 500ml of hot water. Pour the hot water over 3 black tea bags in a heatproof pitcher or pot. The black tea forms the aromatic base of your peach iced tea, adding depth and complexity to the flavor.
Step 7
Let the tea bags steep for approximately 4 minutes to achieve a strong brew. After steeping, remove the tea bags promptly to prevent the tea from becoming bitter. The resulting deeply brewed tea will be the foundation of your iced tea.
Step 8
Check on the macerated peaches. You’ll notice they have softened and released a lovely, sweet syrup thanks to the sugar and lemon juice. If you desire an even more intense peach flavor, you can let the peaches continue to marinate in the refrigerator with the sugar and lemon juice for an additional 30 minutes or longer.
Step 9
To assemble your iced tea, generously add the macerated peach pieces to your serving glasses. Filling about half the glass with peaches creates a visually appealing and flavor-packed drink.
Step 10
Fill the glasses generously with ice cubes. Then, pour the strongly brewed black tea over the ice and peaches. Stir everything together gently to combine the tea, peach syrup, and fruit pieces.
Step 11
And there you have it – a cool, refreshing, and homemade peach iced tea perfect for beating the summer heat! Enjoy this delightful, healthy, and delicious homemade beverage.
