Essential Ingredients- Lasagna sheets (3 sheets)
- Pepperoni (8 slices, or to taste)
- Ground beef (1 paper cup, approx. 100-150g)
- Onion (1/3)
- Celery (1 stalk)
- Minced garlic (1 Tbsp)
- Tomato sauce (2 paper cups, approx. 200-250ml)
- Cream sauce (1 paper cup, approx. 100-150ml)
- Shredded pizza cheese (2 handfuls, or to taste)
- Olive oil (a little)
- Salt (a little)
- Black pepper (a little)
- Basil (a little, dried or fresh)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Begin by finely mincing the onion and celery. This will help them break down and meld beautifully into the sauce, enhancing its flavor.
Step 2
Cook the lasagna sheets according to package directions, usually about 10 minutes in boiling water. Once cooked, rinse them under cold water to prevent sticking, then toss lightly with a bit of olive oil. This ensures each sheet remains separate and easy to layer.
Step 3
Heat a pan over medium heat and add a drizzle of olive oil. Sauté the minced onion, minced garlic, and minced celery until fragrant and softened, about 5-7 minutes. The vegetables should become translucent and aromatic.
Step 4
Add the ground beef to the pan and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until it’s browned. Stir in the tomato sauce, season with salt and pepper to taste, and add the basil. Let the sauce simmer gently for a few minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
Step 5
Assemble the lasagna in an oven-safe dish. Lightly grease the dish with olive oil. Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom. Place a layer of lasagna sheets on top, followed by a layer of tomato sauce, then a layer of cream sauce. Sprinkle generously with pizza cheese and arrange pepperoni slices. Repeat this layering process 2-3 times, ending with a layer of cheese and pepperoni.
Step 6
Bake in a preheated oven at 190°C (375°F) for about 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden brown. Cooking times may vary depending on your oven. Let the lasagna rest for a few minutes before serving to allow it to set slightly.
