Essential Ingredients- Kimchi (whole cabbage kimchi)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, carefully cut and remove the tough core of the whole cabbage kimchi. This step helps the kimchi maintain its shape beautifully and prevents it from falling apart.
Step 2
Cut the prepared kimchi in half vertically. You can adjust the size based on the kimchi’s dimensions.
Step 3
Now, arrange the stem parts and the leafy parts so they slightly overlap. This positioning helps keep the kimchi stable while you slice it.
Step 4
Slice the kimchi into pieces about 3-4 cm long. Avoid slicing too thinly, as this preserves the texture and shape. Arrange the cut kimchi upright on a plate for an appealing presentation.
Step 5
Gently spread out the large outer leaves of the kimchi. We’ll use these leaves to create a more elegant presentation.
Step 6
Starting from the stem part, carefully roll the kimchi towards the leaves, creating a beautiful, layered roll, much like a flower bud.
Step 7
Slice the kimchi roll into bite-sized pieces (about 2-3 cm). The key is to use a sharp knife and slice cleanly to prevent the roll from unraveling. Arrange the finished kimchi presentation on a plate.
Step 8
For an alternative method, begin by removing the tough core of the kimchi, just like in the first technique. Ensure it’s cleaned thoroughly.
Step 9
Carefully separate one large outer leaf from the kimchi. Set this leaf aside; it will be used to wrap the kimchi.
Step 10
Now, cut the kimchi in half vertically and then place the pieces at a diagonal slant. This arrangement follows the natural texture of the leaves.
Step 11
Wrap the kimchi pieces with the reserved outer leaf, then slice them at approximately 3 cm intervals. The outer leaf acts as a binder, making slicing easier and giving a neater appearance. Finally, arrange the beautifully cut kimchi on your serving dish.
