Crispy Air Fryer Sweet Potato Chips (with Rice Cake Sticks)
Healthy & Delicious Diet Snack: Easy Air Fryer Sweet Potato Chips and Rice Cake Sticks!
This is a healthy sweet potato chip recipe that can be easily made with just an air fryer, without any added sugar or oil. Adding chewy rice cake sticks while baking creates a special snack that’s crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. It’s a nutritious snack you can enjoy without guilt even when dieting, and it’s also popular as a snack for children!
Main Ingredients- 1 medium sweet potato
- 1 handful of Tteokguk Tteok (rice cake sticks for soup), brown rice version recommended
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Wash the sweet potato thoroughly. Since you’ll be using it with the skin on, it’s recommended to scrub it multiple times under running water to remove any dirt or debris. Once washed, slice the sweet potato into thin rounds, about 0.3 cm thick. If they are too thick, they won’t get crispy, and if they are too thin, they might burn, so consistent slicing is key. (Tip: Using a mandoline slicer makes it easy to cut uniform slices.)
Step 2
Arrange the sliced sweet potatoes and a handful of Tteokguk Tteok evenly in the air fryer basket or on the tray. Spreading them out so they don’t overlap too much allows air to circulate, ensuring they become crispy all around. For chewier rice cakes, you can lightly rinse them under water and drain before using.
Step 3
Set the air fryer temperature to 180°C (350°F) and the cooking time to 15 minutes. To prevent burning, it’s a good idea to open the air fryer and flip or shake the contents around the 7-10 minute mark. The cooking time may vary slightly depending on the thickness of the sweet potato slices and your air fryer model, so keep an eye on them and adjust as needed. They are ready when they turn golden brown!
