  • 4 King Oyster Mushrooms (or 3 if large)
  • 1/2 Tbsp Minced Garlic
  • 1 Tbsp Perilla Seed Powder (coarse, for soups)
  • 1/2 Tbsp Fine Perilla Seed Powder
  • 1 Tbsp Perilla Oil
  • 1/4 to 1/5 Tbsp Fine Salt (adjust to taste)

Start by preparing 4 fresh King Oyster Mushrooms. If they are particularly large, 3 mushrooms will suffice. Trim off the dirty bottom ends with a knife and slice them into bite-sized pieces, about 1cm thick. Slicing them too thinly might result in a mushy texture, so aim for a moderate thickness.

Place the sliced mushrooms into a microwave-safe container. If your container has a lid, close it. If not, cover tightly with plastic wrap and poke 4-5 small holes with a toothpick to allow steam to escape. This step helps the mushrooms cook evenly and stay moist.

Microwave on high for 2 minutes. After 2 minutes, carefully remove the container and gently stir the mushrooms to ensure even cooking. Combining both coarse and fine perilla seed powder enhances the flavor, but using just one type is also perfectly fine.
