Air Fryer Flattened Potatoes Ingredients

  • 3 potatoes (approx. 458g)
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 bag Mozzarella cheese
  • Pinch of Parmesan cheese powder (optional)
  • Pinch of parsley flakes (for garnish)

For Boiling Potatoes

  • 750ml water
  • 0.5 Tbsp coarse salt
  • 1 Tbsp white sugar

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the potatoes thoroughly. For these, we’ll be using the skin, so wash the 3 potatoes under running water. Use a scrubbing brush to remove any dirt or residue, ensuring they are completely clean.

Step 1

Step 2

Place the washed potatoes in a pot and add 750ml of water. Sprinkle in 0.5 Tbsp of coarse salt to season the potatoes as they boil.

Step 2

Step 3

Adding a little sugar while boiling potatoes helps enhance their natural sweetness and makes them softer. Add 1 Tbsp of white sugar.

Step 3

Step 4

Set the pot on the stove over medium-high heat. Once the water comes to a rolling boil, cover the pot with a lid, reduce the heat to medium-low, and let the potatoes boil for about 25 minutes until tender.

Step 4

Step 5

After 25 minutes, select the largest potato and insert a fork or skewer into it. If it slides in smoothly with no resistance, the potatoes are perfectly cooked. If it’s still a bit firm, continue boiling for another 5 minutes.

Step 5

Step 6

Drain the boiled potatoes well while they are still hot. Use a potato masher to mash them thoroughly until smooth. If you don’t have a masher, you can use the bottom of a sturdy glass or a bowl to press them down. Aim for a smooth, lump-free consistency.

Step 6

Step 7

Gather all the mashed potato together and shape them into flattened discs. Aim for a thickness that will fit comfortably in your air fryer, making about 5 flattened shapes. Gently press and mold them with your hands.

Step 7

Step 8

Now, prepare your air fryer. Arrange the flattened potato shapes in the air fryer basket, making sure they don’t overlap. Sprinkle a pinch of salt over each potato for seasoning. You can also add a dash of pepper or a drizzle of olive oil at this stage for extra flavor, if desired.

Step 8

Step 9

Once all the potatoes are in the basket, close the air fryer lid. We’ll set the cooking temperature in the next step.

Step 9

Step 10

Set the initial cooking temperature to 180°C (356°F). If you prefer a deeper golden brown and crispier finish, you can increase the temperature slightly to between 185-190°C (365-374°F).

Step 10

Step 11

Set the first cooking time for 15 minutes and start the air fryer. During this time, the potatoes will begin to turn golden brown.

Step 11

Step 12

After 15 minutes, carefully open the air fryer basket. Now, generously top each potato with mozzarella cheese, as much as you like. If you have Parmesan cheese powder, sprinkle some over the mozzarella for an extra cheesy and savory flavor.

Step 12

Step 13

After adding the cheese, start the second cooking phase. Keep the temperature at 180°C (356°F) and set the time for a short 3 minutes. This is just enough time to melt the cheese beautifully.

Step 13

Step 14

After 3 minutes, open the basket and check if the mozzarella cheese has melted nicely and is delightfully gooey. If it looks perfectly melted, you’re almost done!

Step 14

Step 15

Transfer the finished flattened potatoes to a serving plate. Finish with a sprinkle of parsley flakes for a beautiful presentation and a hint of fresh aroma. Your Air Fryer Flattened Potatoes are ready to be enjoyed! Bon appétit!
