Main Ingredients- 5-6 large cocktail shrimp, peeled and deveined (thawed if frozen)
- 5 bocconcini cheese balls
- A small handful of green beans (string beans)
Seasoning & Garnish- 1 tbsp butter
- Pinch of salt
- Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional, to taste)
- Pinch of dried parsley (for garnish, optional)
- 1 tbsp butter
- Pinch of salt
- Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional, to taste)
- Pinch of dried parsley (for garnish, optional)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, rinse the 5-6 cocktail shrimp under cold water to thaw them if they were frozen. Pat them thoroughly dry with paper towels. Removing excess moisture is key to achieving a perfect sear and preventing the butter from becoming watery.
Step 2
Prepare your accompaniments: trim the ends off the green beans and cut them into bite-sized pieces if necessary. Have the bocconcini cheese ready.
Step 3
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add the tablespoon of butter and let it melt completely, swirling the pan to coat the bottom evenly. Be careful not to let the butter burn.
Step 4
Once the butter is melted and slightly shimmering, add the dried shrimp to the pan in a single layer. Sauté the shrimp for about 1-2 minutes per side, until they turn opaque and pink. Avoid overcrowding the pan; cook in batches if necessary.
Step 5
When the shrimp are almost cooked through, add the prepared green beans to the skillet. Continue to sauté for another 1-2 minutes until the green beans are tender-crisp. Season with a pinch of salt.
Step 6
For a touch of heat, sprinkle in the red pepper flakes (if using). Add the bocconcini cheese to the pan just before you’re ready to serve. The residual heat will gently warm the cheese, making it delightfully soft without completely melting. Stir gently to incorporate.
Step 7
Carefully transfer the shrimp and green beans to a serving plate. Arrange the bocconcini cheese artfully on top of the shrimp, making them easy to pick up and enjoy in one bite.
Step 8
Finish with a light sprinkle of dried parsley for a pop of color and fresh aroma. Serve immediately and savor this delicious, quick appetizer!
