Spicy and Refreshing Pollack Stew (Dongtae Tang)
How to Make Delicious Dongtae Tang: A Refreshing and Spicy Korean Stew
Let’s make a wonderfully spicy and refreshing Dongtae Tang. It’s perfect for a satisfying meal.
Main Ingredients- 1 whole Pollack (Dongtae), cleaned and cut
- 1 bunch of Crown Daisy (Ssukgat)
- 1/4 Korean Radish (Moo)
- 1 Green Chili Pepper (Cheongyang Gochu)
- 1 handful of Bean Sprouts (Kongnamul)
- 1 handful of Scallion (Daeppa)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
We’re going to make a deliciously spicy and refreshing Dongtae Tang today. It’s excellent for hangovers or as a hearty side dish.
Step 2
First, slice the Korean radish into about 0.5cm thick pieces and lay them at the bottom of your pot. The radish will add a wonderful refreshing flavor to the broth.
Step 3
Arrange the prepared pollack pieces neatly on top of the radish. The freshness of the pollack is key to its flavor, so using good quality fish is recommended.
Step 4
In a bowl, combine 1 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 Tbsp red pepper flakes, 1 tsp minced garlic, and 1 tsp salt. Pour in 800ml of water or broth and mix well to create the seasoning paste. Pour this paste evenly over the ingredients in the pot.
Step 5
Bring the pot to a boil over high heat, then reduce to medium heat. Add the bean sprouts and crown daisy. Cook just until the bean sprouts are crisp-tender and the crown daisy has slightly wilted. This brief cooking time prevents a fishy taste and preserves the fresh flavor of the vegetables. Add the green chili pepper, thinly sliced, according to your preference.
Step 6
Once all the ingredients are perfectly cooked, turn off the heat. Ladle the delicious Dongtae Tang generously into bowls. It’s absolutely delightful when enjoyed with a warm bowl of rice!
