Main Ingredients

  • Beef for Bulgogi, 400g
  • Onion, 1 medium
  • King Oyster Mushroom, 1
  • Korean Green Chili Pepper, 1.5
  • Carrot, a small piece
  • Green Onion, 1 stalk

Marinade

  • Fish Sauce, 2 Tbsp
  • Brewing Soy Sauce, 2 Tbsp
  • Plum Extract, 1 Tbsp
  • Minced Garlic, 1/2 Tbsp
  • Sesame Oil, 1/2 Tbsp
  • Sesame Seeds, 1/3 Tbsp

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Prepare the bulgogi-cut beef by patting it dry with paper towels to remove excess blood. In a bowl, combine the beef with all the marinade ingredients and gently mix. Let it marinate for at least 10 minutes. It’s best to make the marinade slightly stronger than you think, as the flavor will balance out when mixed with the vegetables.

Step 1

Step 2

Slice the onion into thin strips. Cut the king oyster mushroom into bite-sized pieces. Thinly slice or julienne the carrot. Slice the Korean green chili peppers diagonally. Chop the green onion diagonally.

Step 2

Step 3

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add a splash of cooking oil. First, stir-fry the chopped green onions until fragrant. Once aromatic, add the sliced onions and stir-fry until they become translucent and softened. Next, add the carrots and stir-fry together to bring out their natural sweetness.

Step 3

Step 4

Add the marinated beef to the skillet and stir-fry over high heat. Use chopsticks or a spatula to separate the meat as it cooks to ensure it cooks evenly and stays tender and juicy.

Step 4

Step 5

Once the beef is almost cooked through, add the sliced king oyster mushrooms and Korean green chili peppers. Stir briefly to combine. Cover the skillet for a minute or two; this allows the mushrooms to release some moisture, making the dish even more succulent.

Step 5

Step 6

The delicious aroma fills the air! Your savory bulgogi beef is ready to be served. Spoon it generously over a bowl of warm rice to create a delightful rice bowl. For an extra touch, you can add a fried egg or sprinkle some seaweed flakes. Enjoy this hearty and satisfying meal!
