Ingredients- 2 ripe tomatoes
- 300ml sparkling water
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, thoroughly wash the tomatoes under running water. To alleviate concerns about residual pesticides, soak the tomatoes in water with a little baking soda for about 10 minutes. Then, gently scrub the stem area with a soft brush or your fingers to ensure a delicate yet thorough clean. This step helps remove any lingering impurities.
Step 2
Make a small cross-shaped incision on the stem end of each cleaned tomato. This cut will make peeling easier. Place the tomatoes in a microwave-safe dish and microwave on high for about 1 minute and 30 seconds. This will slightly cook the tomatoes and soften their skins.
Step 3
Carefully remove the tomatoes from the microwave (they will be hot!). Gently peel the skin starting from the incision you made. The skin should come off easily after being heated.
Step 4
Once peeled, cut the tomatoes into manageable pieces and place them in a blender. If you prefer to avoid the seeds, you can remove them at this stage before blending. Blend until you achieve a smooth, juice-like consistency.
Step 5
Pour the blended tomato juice into a nice glass. Slowly top it off with the cold sparkling water. Give it a gentle stir to combine the tomato juice and the fizzy water. Your delicious Tomatoade is ready! Feel free to add a touch of honey or sugar to taste if you desire.
