Main Ingredients

  • 200g ground pork
  • 1/2 bowl cooked rice
  • 2 slices cheddar cheese

Seasoning & Other Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil
  • A pinch of toasted sesame seeds
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 Tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic
  • A pinch of black pepper

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

In a bowl, combine the ground pork with soy sauce, sugar, minced garlic, and black pepper. Knead the mixture with your hands for about 5 minutes until it becomes sticky and cohesive. This process helps the meat become tender and absorb the seasonings well.

Step 1

Step 2

In a separate bowl, place the cooked rice. Season it with sesame oil, toasted sesame seeds, and a pinch of salt, mixing gently. Seasoning the rice beforehand makes the filling moist and flavorful. You can also use leftover cold rice or make a small fried rice mixture.

Step 2

Step 3

Lay a sheet of plastic wrap or parchment paper on a bamboo sushi rolling mat. Spread the seasoned ground pork thinly and evenly over the wrap. Place the two slices of cheddar cheese lengthwise on top of the pork. Using plenty of cheese will result in a richer, more delicious flavor.

Step 3

Step 4

Carefully spread the seasoned rice evenly over the pork layer. Using the bamboo mat, roll the mixture tightly like making sushi. Be careful not to roll the plastic wrap or parchment paper inside the filling. Once rolled, wrap the entire log securely with the plastic wrap to shape it. Tightly sealing the edges with aluminum foil will help maintain the roll’s shape during baking and prevent it from falling apart.

Step 4

Step 5

Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 15-20 minutes. Once the meat is cooked, carefully remove the aluminum foil. Increase the oven temperature to 200°C (400°F) and bake for another 10-15 minutes until the surface is golden brown. (Please adjust baking time and temperature according to your oven’s specifications.) Let it cool slightly, then slice into desired portions and serve.
