Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the pizza topping ingredients. Slice the sausage into thin, round pieces. Finely chop or julienne the green bell pepper, red bell pepper, and onion to a similar size as the sausage.
Step 2
Heat a little oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onions, green peppers, and red peppers and sauté until translucent. When the vegetables are about 1/3 cooked, add the sliced sausage and stir-fry briefly to release its aroma. Then, turn off the heat. Be careful not to overcook, as they can become mushy.
Step 3
Now, let’s make the crispy crust for the pizza – the roast potato base! Wash the potatoes thoroughly, then julienne them as thinly as possible (using a mandoline slicer is convenient). Heat enough oil in a pan and arrange the julienned potatoes in a thick, circular mound to form a pizza shape. Make the center slightly indented; this will help hold the toppings later.
Step 4
To help the potatoes stick to the pan and hold their shape, use a spatula or turner to gently press and shape the outer edges into a round form. Continue to shape it into a circle by gently pressing until the potatoes are bound together. Sprinkle salt evenly over the potato base for seasoning.
Step 5
Cook over medium-low heat slowly. You’ll see the potatoes release their moisture and the edges turn golden brown and crispy. Carefully lift the bottom of the pizza with a spatula to check if it’s browned and crispy. Once it is, carefully flip the pizza over. (Using a large plate to flip it over can make this step safer.)
Step 6
Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce or ketchup over the well-cooked potato roast crust. Arrange the sautéed vegetables and sausage topping attractively, then generously sprinkle mozzarella cheese over everything. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and bake for about 8 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and golden brown.
After flipping the potato crust, when it’s about 2/3 cooked, you can add the sautéed vegetables directly onto the potato roast base. Once the toppings are arranged and mozzarella cheese is generously sprinkled, cover with a lid and cook over low heat until the cheese is fully melted. This way, you can enjoy delicious pizza even without an oven!
Step 7
Your warm and crispy ‘Tomato Potato Pizza’ is complete! Enjoy the golden, melted cheese and abundant toppings. Make your day special with this homemade pizza!
