Beef and Bean Sprout Stir-fry with Oyster Sauce (for Babies)
Easy and Nutritious Beef Bean Sprout Stir-fry: A Perfect Toddler Side Dish (21 Months)
My baby surprisingly loves bean sprouts, so I decided to stir-fry them with beef and a touch of oyster sauce! This makes for a simple yet incredibly nutritious and tasty dish for little ones.
Main Ingredients- 300g thinly sliced beef for shabu-shabu (cut into bite-sized pieces for baby)
- 176g fresh bean sprouts (rinsed and drained well)
- 1/2 stalk green onion (white parts finely chopped)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Heat a wok or large skillet over medium heat without any oil. Add the thinly sliced beef for shabu-shabu and stir-fry. Gently break up the beef as it cooks to ensure even cooking.
Step 2
Sprinkle a pinch of black pepper over the beef to eliminate any gamey odors and add a subtle seasoning. Cook the beef only until it’s mostly done but still slightly pink; this keeps it tender.
Step 3
When the beef is almost fully cooked, add the thoroughly rinsed and drained bean sprouts and the finely chopped green onion. Turn the heat to high at this stage to minimize water release from the vegetables.
Step 4
Now, add 1 Tbsp of oyster sauce. I accidentally added a bit more than 1 Tbsp when I made this, and it turned out a little salty for a baby’s palate. For a baby’s dish, I recommend starting with just 1/2 Tbsp and tasting it before adding more.
Step 5
Increase the heat to high. Stir-fry quickly, for about a minute, to keep the bean sprouts crisp and prevent them from becoming watery. Turn off the heat, then drizzle in a little sesame oil and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds for a nutty finish. Your delicious beef and bean sprout stir-fry is ready!
