Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, dice the tomato into approximately 5mm cubes. Cutting them into small, thumbnail-sized pieces will ensure they mix evenly into the fried rice, making it even more delicious.
Step 2
Dice the bell pepper to a similar size as the tomato. The vibrant colors will make your fried rice look even more appetizing! (⺣◡⺣)♡*
Step 3
I bought this fresh pollack roe from my local mart. It’s great for using in various dishes over time. Since pollack roe can spoil easily, you can freeze it and use it later to maintain its freshness. (´∀`)♡
Step 4
We’ll be using two portions of pollack roe for today’s fried rice. The plump roe will add a delightful ‘pop’ texture.
Step 5
Slice the garlic cloves rather thickly. This way, the garlic flavor will infuse richly into the fried rice, enhancing its aroma.
Step 6
Now that all our ingredients are prepped, let’s make some delicious fried rice! We’re heading straight to the pan. 。^‿^。
Step 7
Fried rice starts with high heat! Make sure your frying pan is sufficiently hot. A hot pan quickly cooks the ingredients, bringing out their best flavors.
Step 8
Add the sliced garlic to the hot pan and sauté until golden brown, almost like you’re frying it. The garlic will turn a beautiful golden color and release a wonderful nutty aroma. _( ͠° ͟ʖ °͠ )_/
Step 9
Once the garlic is lightly browned, add the pollack roe and stir-fry together. When the pollack roe starts to cook, add the diced bell pepper and tomato, and stir-fry until the vegetables soften slightly.
Step 10
Sprinkle a little black pepper while stir-frying. The subtle spice of the pepper complements the flavor of the pollack roe beautifully. ╰( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡° )つ──☆*:・゚
Step 11
Here comes the secret weapon of this fried rice! It’s time to add the spicy gochujang paste. This is what makes the fried rice so refreshing and delicious.
Step 12
You can make the gochujang paste yourself by mixing (1 cheongyang pepper, finely minced; 1 Tbsp minced garlic; 1 Tbsp mirin; 1/2 Tbsp fish sauce; a pinch of sugar). If you’re short on time or prefer convenience, you can also use store-bought gochujang paste or simply add finely chopped cheongyang peppers!
Step 13
As the vegetables release their moisture, you’ll hear a satisfying sizzle in the pan. This process helps to draw out the savory flavors from the vegetables.
Step 14
Once the vegetables have released some moisture, reduce the heat slightly. Be careful not to burn the ingredients by cooking over excessively high heat for too long.
Step 15
Now, add the cooked rice. Using warm rice helps the seasonings mix well and prevents the fried rice from clumping. Stir thoroughly with a spatula to ensure the seasoning coats every grain of rice. Then, turn the heat back up to high and continue to stir-fry until the rice grains become separate and slightly toasted. It’s important to achieve a fluffy texture.
Step 16
While it’s already delicious as is, we can make it even more special! Prepare one egg and carefully separate the yolk. ⊂◉‿◉つ
Step 17
Gently place the separated egg yolk on top of the well-fried rice. Finally, drizzle a little sesame oil for a rich aroma. This completes your flavorful Pollack Roe Fried Rice! (ᗒᗨᗕ)
