Easy Cauliflower Rice Recipe: Your Diet-Friendly Rice Alternative!
How to Make Cauliflower Rice: A Comprehensive Guide to Washing, Storing, and Using
Craving rice while on a diet? No worries! Introducing cauliflower rice, a low-calorie option that mimics the texture of rice when cooked. It’s perfect for stir-fries, risottos, and other dishes, making your meals delicious and healthy.
Main Ingredients- 1 head Cauliflower
- 1 Tbsp Vinegar
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Choosing the best cauliflower: Look for a head that is uniformly white with no blemishes. The florets should be about 15cm (6 inches) in size and tightly packed.
Step 2
Remove the green outer leaves from the cauliflower.
Step 3
To cut the cauliflower into rice-like pieces: Turn the cauliflower upside down. Insert your knife between the florets from the stem side and gently break them apart, as if ‘snapping’ them off. This method helps minimize the scattering of small pieces.
Step 4
Soak the cut cauliflower in water mixed with 1 tablespoon of vinegar for 5 minutes. The vinegar acts as a sanitizer, helping to clean the cauliflower.
Step 5
Use a food processor to finely chop the cauliflower into rice-sized grains. If you don’t have a food processor, you can carefully chop it with a knife, aiming for pieces slightly larger than grains of rice.
Step 6
Store the chopped cauliflower rice in a freezer bag in the freezer. One head of cauliflower yields approximately 3 to 4 servings.
Step 7
Your cauliflower rice is ready to be used like regular rice in your favorite recipes, such as stir-fries. For a texture even closer to cooked rice, you can lightly toast the cauliflower rice in a dry pan over low heat to evaporate excess moisture before using. It makes a satisfying alternative for a healthy meal.
