Main Ingredients

  • 1 pack button mushrooms (approx. 250g)
  • 1/2 medium onion
  • 1/4 stalk green onion
  • 1/2 red chili pepper

Seasoning & Others

  • 1-2 Tbsp oyster sauce (adjust to taste)
  • Pinch of black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 2 Tbsp canola oil or cooking oil
  • Pinch of sesame seeds (optional)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, gently rinse the button mushrooms under running water or wipe them clean with a damp cloth or paper towel. Trim the tough ends of the stems and slice the mushrooms into quarters or bite-sized pieces. Thinly slice the onion. Finely chop the green onion and red chili pepper. If you prefer less heat, remove the seeds from the red chili pepper before slicing.

Step 1

Step 2

Heat about 2 tablespoons of canola oil in a pan over medium heat. Add all the prepared mushrooms, onion, green onion, and red chili pepper to the pan. Pour in 1-2 tablespoons of oyster sauce and a pinch of black pepper. Stir everything together to get ready for sautéing. Adjust the amount of oyster sauce based on the quantity of mushrooms and your personal preference.

Step 2

Step 3

Sauté over medium heat, stirring occasionally with a spatula, until all ingredients are well combined. The mushrooms will release their moisture, mingling with the vegetables and releasing a delicious aroma.

Step 3

Step 4

Once the mushrooms are somewhat cooked and have softened, add 1 tablespoon of minced garlic. Continue to sauté for about 1 minute until the garlic becomes fragrant. Be careful not to overcook the garlic, as it can burn.

Step 4

Step 5

Finally, sprinkle about half a tablespoon of sesame seeds, if desired, and give it a quick final stir. Your delicious sautéed mushrooms are ready! Serve it over warm rice for a simple rice bowl, or enjoy it as a side dish. It’s truly delicious either way!
