Crispy Spring Onion and Gochujang Salad
Simple and Delicious Gochujang-Seasoned Spring Onion Salad Recipe Using Fresh Spring Onions
Spring onions are incredibly sweet and delicious right now, so I bought a bunch. It’s a shame when they go to waste, so today I decided to make a simple and easy salad with them. This recipe uses a ‘Multi-purpose Seasoning Sauce’ (see @6943508), which is also recommended. It’s a fantastic side dish with a delightful crisp texture and a perfect balance of spicy and sweet flavors that will stimulate your appetite!
Main Ingredients- Fresh Spring Onions 600g (approx. 3 medium-sized onions)
Seasoning Ingredients- Multi-purpose Seasoning Sauce 4 Tbsp (Recipe @6943508)
- Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes) 4 Tbsp
- Tuna Extract or Soy Sauce 2 Tbsp
- Vinegar 3 Tbsp
- Whole Sesame Seeds 1 Tbsp
- Sesame Oil 1 Tbsp
- Multi-purpose Seasoning Sauce 4 Tbsp (Recipe @6943508)
- Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes) 4 Tbsp
- Tuna Extract or Soy Sauce 2 Tbsp
- Vinegar 3 Tbsp
- Whole Sesame Seeds 1 Tbsp
- Sesame Oil 1 Tbsp
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Peel and wash the fresh spring onions thoroughly. Slice them into approximately 0.5cm thick strips or bite-sized pieces. Avoid slicing them too thinly, as this can make them mushy; a moderate thickness will help preserve their crisp texture.
Step 2
Place the sliced spring onions into a large bowl. Add all the seasoning ingredients except for the sesame oil and sesame seeds (Multi-purpose Seasoning Sauce, gochugaru, tuna extract, and vinegar). Gently mix everything together with your hands, like massaging, ensuring the seasoning coats the onions evenly. Be careful not to mix too vigorously, as this can release too much liquid from the onions.
Step 3
Finally, add the sesame oil and whole sesame seeds for a nutty aroma and mix once more, lightly. Adding these at the end helps to preserve their fragrance and enhance the flavor.
Step 4
The finished spring onion and gochujang salad can be enjoyed immediately. Serve it in a bowl or store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. It’s even more delicious when served chilled!
