Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Introducing ‘ManGae Shrimp Jang’, a new release from ‘ManGae Recipe’s’ store. This product, weighing 250g, is a frozen item and a true ‘rice thief’ (a term for a delicious dish that makes you eat more rice) for your dining table. (This recipe uses ‘ManGae Shrimp Jang’.)
Step 2
ManGae Shrimp Jang is made with carefully selected Vietnamese peeled shrimp, combined with a special sauce crafted from 16 rich ingredients including soy sauce, cooking wine, anchovy sauce, fresh onions, sugar, and garlic. Its deep and savory flavor is its hallmark.
Step 3
The jar contains approximately 10-11 medium-sized shrimp, larger than cocktail shrimp, offering a pleasingly plump texture. A few slices of garlic are also included to enhance the aroma.
Step 4
For one serving of pasta, about 5 marinated shrimp are ideal for a balanced flavor. Feel free to adjust the amount of shrimp according to your preference.
Step 5
Heat 1.5 Tbsp of olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and thinly sliced onion. Sauté gently until fragrant and the onion is translucent, being careful not to burn the garlic. This step is crucial for releasing their aroma.
Step 6
In a pot, bring a generous amount of water to a boil and add 1 tsp of coarse salt. Once boiling, add the spaghetti pasta and cook for 1-2 minutes less than the package instructions. Since the Shrimp Jang sauce is already flavorful, use less salt than you normally would for the pasta water to avoid making the final dish too salty.
Step 7
When the pasta is nearly al dente, transfer it directly from the boiling water to the pan with the sautéed garlic and onions. Add 2-3 Tbsp of the Shrimp Jang sauce and toss the pasta quickly to coat it evenly with the savory sauce.
Step 8
Add about 1/4 cup of the pasta cooking water (pasta water) to the pan to achieve a smooth sauce consistency. Now, add the marinated shrimp from the Shrimp Jang. Toss everything together quickly, just enough to heat the shrimp through without overcooking them. If you prefer your shrimp fresh and uncooked, skip adding them at this stage and use them as a topping at the very end.
Step 9
Arrange the cooked pasta elegantly on a plate. To balance the rich, savory flavor, serve with fresh salad greens and juicy tomatoes. These add a refreshing contrast and make the dish more visually appealing. It’s best not to add any dressing to the salad so as not to overpower the flavor of the Shrimp Jang pasta.
Step 10
Finish by grating some Parmesan cheese over the top, if desired, for an extra layer of flavor. For an even more luxurious and creamy texture, stir in a small knob of butter at the very end after the pasta is sauced. (If you don’t have butter, a little extra drizzle of olive oil works well too.)
