Make Tender Baby Pepper Steamed Dish!
Baby peppers are small, tender peppers with a wonderfully soft texture. They are a favorite among adults, and I often make them myself. They’re so addictive, you’ll keep reaching for more!
Ingredients- 1 bag baby peppers
- 1 cup flour
Seasoning- 3 Tbsp soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp red pepper flakes
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- 2 Tbsp plum extract (or corn syrup)
- A little sesame oil
- A little toasted sesame seeds
- 3 Tbsp soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp red pepper flakes
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- 2 Tbsp plum extract (or corn syrup)
- A little sesame oil
- A little toasted sesame seeds
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Remove the stems from the baby peppers and wash them thoroughly. Lightly pat them dry to remove excess moisture, then prepare to coat them with flour.
Step 2
Here’s an easy way to coat them evenly: Place the washed peppers and flour in a resealable bag or plastic bag. Close the bag and shake gently until the peppers are evenly coated with a thin layer of flour.
Step 3
Fill a steamer pot with water and bring it to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, carefully arrange the flour-coated peppers in the steamer basket. Cover and steam for about 5 to 8 minutes, or until tender but not mushy.
Step 4
Carefully remove the steamed peppers from the steamer and transfer them to a serving dish. They may stick together due to the flour coating. Gently separate them using chopsticks or a spatula. Be delicate to avoid breaking them.
Step 5
Now, let’s make the delicious seasoning. In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, red pepper flakes, minced garlic, and plum extract (or corn syrup) for a touch of sweetness. Stir well. Finally, have some sesame oil and toasted sesame seeds ready to add a nutty aroma.
Step 6
Pour the prepared seasoning sauce over the separated peppers. Gently toss to coat the peppers evenly, being careful not to mash or break them. The goal is to preserve the tender texture of the baby peppers, so toss lightly until all the peppers are coated.
Step 7
Your fragrant and tender steamed baby peppers are ready! They offer a unique texture and flavor, different from steamed shishito peppers, making for a delightful side dish that will surely complement your meal.
