Ingredients

  • 5 cups ripe watermelon (cubed)
  • 1/2 cup agave syrup (or honey, or other liquid sweetener)
  • 2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup cold milk
  • 2 Tbsp chocolate chips (for garnish)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, slice the watermelon into thin, manageable pieces. Then, use a spoon to gently scrape out the seeds from the flesh. This method makes seed removal much easier and ensures a smoother sorbet texture.

Step 1

Step 2

Once the seeds are removed, cut the watermelon flesh into uniform cubes, about 2 cm in size. Cubing the watermelon makes it easier to blend thoroughly in the next step.

Step 2

Step 3

In a blender, combine the cubed watermelon, agave syrup (for sweetness), fresh lemon juice (for a bright tang), and cold milk (for creaminess). Blend until the mixture is smooth and pureed.

Step 3

Step 4

For an extra smooth and velvety texture, strain the watermelon puree through a fine-mesh sieve. This removes any remaining fibrous bits, resulting in a wonderfully creamy sorbet.

Step 4

Step 5

Portion the watermelon puree into freezer-safe bags or containers. Ensure you seal them tightly to prevent freezer burn and any air from entering, preparing them for freezing.

Step 5

Step 6

Once the watermelon puree is solidly frozen, remove the bags or containers. Gently break up the frozen mixture into sorbet-like crystals. You can do this by tapping the bag with the back of a spoon or a small rolling pin. If it’s too hard to break, let it thaw slightly at room temperature for a few minutes. After breaking it up, stir in the chocolate chips to resemble watermelon seeds.

Step 7

Your beautiful and delicious watermelon sorbet is now complete! Enjoy this refreshing summer treat.
