The Classic Simple Side Dish! Fragrant Stir-Fried Bean Sprouts
Feeling tired on a hot day? Prepare a nutritious and delicious bean sprout side dish with ease! These stir-fried bean sprouts are simple to prep, cook quickly, and offer a wonderfully crispy texture. They’re perfect as a side for rice or even as a light snack with drinks.
Main Ingredients- 500g fresh bean sprouts (1 bag)
- 1 Tbsp cooking oil
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- 1/2 white part of a green onion
- 1/4 onion
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, heat a pan over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of cooking oil and 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. Finely chop the white part of 1/2 green onion and add it to the pan. Stir-fry until the green onion becomes fragrant, creating an aromatic oil. This step enhances the flavor of the bean sprouts with the sweet essence of the onion.
Step 2
Once the green onion is lightly sautéed, add 1/4 onion thinly sliced into strips. Stir-fry them together until the onion begins to turn translucent. Cooking the onion until it caramelizes slightly will bring out its natural sweetness, enriching the overall taste of the dish.
Step 3
Now, add the entire bag of 500g bean sprouts, which have been washed and drained thoroughly, to the pan. It’s crucial not to overcook the bean sprouts. Stir-fry them quickly over high heat to maintain their crisp texture – that’s the key!
Step 4
As the bean sprouts begin to wilt slightly, add 2 teaspoons of salted shrimp (saeujeot) to season. Salted shrimp adds a savory depth that regular salt can’t quite match, making your bean sprout dish even more delicious. Finally, sprinkle 1 tablespoon of toasted sesame seeds for a nutty finish. Your delicious stir-fried bean sprouts are ready! Enjoy them with a warm bowl of rice.
