Quick and Easy Side Dish: Solve Your Meal Prep With Stir-Fried Fish Cakes!
Wondering what simple side dish to make? I had some leftover fish cakes, so I decided to make stir-fried fish cakes. This recipe is perfect for when you need a quick and delicious addition to your meals.
Main Ingredients- 4 sheets of Korean fish cake (eomuk) (approx. 200g)
- 1/2 medium onion
- 1/4 carrot (approx. 30g)
- 1/4 stalk of green onion
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, cut the fish cakes into bite-sized pieces. Thinly slice the onion and julienne the carrot into similar thickness. Finely chop the green onion to be added at the end. Prepping the ingredients like this will help speed up the cooking process.
Step 2
Heat a lightly oiled pan over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and carrot, and stir-fry until they become translucent. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Stir-frying the vegetables first enhances their sweetness and flavor.
Step 3
Now, add the prepared fish cakes to the pan and stir-fry them with the vegetables. Be careful not to overcook the fish cakes, as they can become tough. Stir-fry for about 1-2 minutes, just until they are well combined with the vegetables.
Step 4
Next, add the soy sauce for the savory base and the oligosaccharide for sweetness. Stir well to coat all the ingredients evenly. Continue to stir-fry for about 1 minute until the soy sauce is well absorbed into the fish cakes.
Step 5
Just before turning off the heat, drizzle in the sesame oil for aroma, add sesame seeds for a nutty flavor, and a pinch of black pepper. Stir quickly to combine. Adding sesame oil at the end preserves its fragrant aroma, making the dish even more delicious.
Step 6
Finally, garnish with the chopped green onions for a fresh look. Your delicious and nutritious stir-fried fish cakes are now complete! They taste amazing served over a bowl of warm rice. 😀
