Pork Belly Braised Pork Fried Rice: A Satisfying Meal for Kids and Toddlers
This is a delicious braised pork fried rice recipe made using leftover braised pork from the previous day. It’s an excellent side dish for children and toddlers, offering a delightful combination of tender pork and vegetables.
Fried Rice Ingredients- 100g Braised Pork (shredded)
- 40g Onion (finely chopped)
- 40g Carrot (finely chopped)
- 50g Zucchini (finely chopped)
- 1 Tbsp Perilla Oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the vegetables for the fried rice (onion, carrot, zucchini). Using a rice bowl as a guide, thinly slice or finely chop about one adult rice bowl’s worth of vegetables. This helps you gauge the right amount of vegetables and saves time. Smaller chopped vegetables are easier for children to eat and blend well with the rice.
Step 2
If you have time, heat perilla oil in a pan over low heat and sauté the onions until translucent. Sautéing onions first brings out their sweetness and softens them, enhancing the flavor of the fried rice. Once the onions are translucent, add the other chopped vegetables (carrots, zucchini) and stir-fry together. If you are short on time, you can add all the vegetables at once and stir-fry them.
Step 3
Once the vegetables are tender-crisp, add the shredded braised pork, 1 Tbsp of the braising liquid, and 2 bowls of warm rice. Add 1 Tbsp of perilla oil and stir-fry everything until well combined. For a deeper, more savory flavor, consider adding a small amount of butter. Adjust to your preference. The braised pork is already seasoned, so minimize additional seasoning. If desired, add 0.5 Tbsp of plum extract for a touch of sweetness and umami, and stir-fry together. Continue to cook until the ingredients are well mixed and the rice grains are separate and fluffy. Your fried rice is ready!
