Ingredients- 1 ripe avocado
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Method 1: The Quarter Cut for Easy Peeling
1. First, wash your avocado thoroughly. Then, carefully insert your knife lengthwise, cutting down until you feel the seed. Make crosswise cuts to divide it into four quarters.
2. Gently twist each half to separate them from the seed. You should now have two halves, with the seed in one piece.
3. Starting from the narrower end of the avocado half, peel away the skin. If the skin is sticking, you can make a shallow cut along the edge to help it separate cleanly without tearing.
4. And voilà! You have a perfectly peeled avocado, ready to be enjoyed. It’s fantastic for salads, sandwiches, or as a simple snack.
Step 2
Method 2: Halving and Pitting for Spooning
1. Wash the avocado. Make a lengthwise cut down to the seed, this time dividing the avocado into just two halves (like a minus sign ‘-‘).
2. Twist the halves to separate them. The seed will be attached to one of the halves.
3. To remove the seed, gently tap the knife into it and twist to loosen and pull it out. (Referencing the video demonstration will make this step even clearer).
4. Now, take a spoon and carefully slide it between the avocado flesh and the skin. Gently rotate the spoon to scoop out the avocado flesh, keeping the skin intact as much as possible.
Step 3
The Most Important Tip: Choosing the Right Avocado!
No matter which cutting method you use, the key to success is starting with a perfectly ripe avocado. Look for one with a dark green to black skin that yields slightly to gentle pressure. Always check your avocado’s ripeness before you start preparing it!
