Main Ingredients

  • 10 prepared Aralia shoots (cleanly trimmed)
  • Pinch of salt (for blanching)
  • 250g beef brisket (fresh)
  • 1 Tbsp chopped walnuts (for garnish)

Beef Brisket Marinade Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 Tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 Tbsp sesame oil
  • Pinch of black pepper (to taste)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Blanch the prepared Aralia shoots in boiling water with a pinch of salt for about 1 minute. This helps reduce their slight bitterness and enhances their texture. Immediately rinse them in cold water to preserve their vibrant color and drain any excess water. (For more detailed Aralia preparation, please refer to recipe ‘6888290’.)

Step 2

Gently pat the beef brisket dry with paper towels to remove any excess blood. This step eliminates any gamey odor and ensures a clean flavor. Place the brisket in a bowl and add the ‘Beef Brisket Marinade Ingredients’ (soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, black pepper). Mix gently to coat the meat evenly and let it marinate for about 10 minutes.

Step 2

Step 3

Lay a slice of marinated beef brisket flat. Place a few prepared Aralia shoots on one end and carefully roll the brisket around them to form a neat roll. Since the brisket is thin, it should roll easily. Shape them attractively. The contrast of the Aralia’s green and the brisket’s red makes for a visually appealing dish.

Step 3

Step 4

Heat a lightly oiled pan over medium heat. Place the rolled Aralia brisket rolls seam-side down and sear until golden brown. Gently roll them around the pan to ensure even cooking on all sides. Cook over medium-low heat to prevent the brisket from burning.

Step 4

Step 5

Arrange the beautifully cooked Aralia brisket rolls on a serving plate. Sprinkle generously with the chopped walnuts for garnish. The nutty flavor of the walnuts adds an extra layer of richness. Serve immediately while warm for the best taste experience!
