Main Ingredients- Sea beet, 2 servings (thawed and drained)
- Pear, 2 servings (approx. 1/4 pear, peeled and seeded)
Sea Beet and Pear Salad Dressing- 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1/2 portion minced green onion (scallion)
- 1 Tbsp gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp fish sauce (or clear soy sauce)
- A little sesame oil (for a nutty aroma)
- A little sesame seeds (for garnish)
- 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1/2 portion minced green onion (scallion)
- 1 Tbsp gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp fish sauce (or clear soy sauce)
- A little sesame oil (for a nutty aroma)
- A little sesame seeds (for garnish)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Thaw the frozen sea beet completely by soaking it in cold or lukewarm water. Rinse it thoroughly under running water and squeeze out any excess moisture. Cut the sea beet into bite-sized pieces, about 2-3 cm long. Cutting them too long might make them difficult to eat.
Step 2
Peel the pear, remove the core and seeds, then thinly julienne it to a similar length as the sea beet. The pear’s crisp texture will enhance the salad’s overall flavor.
Step 3
In a large bowl, combine the prepared sea beet and julienned pear. Add the minced garlic, chopped green onion, gochugaru, soy sauce, and fish sauce. Gently mix everything with your hands, ‘jomal-jomal’ style, ensuring the dressing coats all the ingredients evenly. Be careful not to mix too vigorously, as this can break down the sea beet.
Step 4
Finally, drizzle in a little sesame oil and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Toss gently one more time to combine. The fragrant sesame oil and nutty sesame seeds add the finishing touch. Serve this delicious Sea Beet and Pear Salad alongside a warm meal!
