Ingredients

  • 1 block Acorn Jelly (dotorimuk)
  • A little bit of Cabbage (approx. 1/4 head)
  • 1 stalk Green Onion

Seasoning

  • 1 Tbsp Sugar
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 5 Tbsp Soy Sauce (for seasoned dishes)
  • 2 Tbsp Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
  • 1.5 Tbsp Sesame Oil

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Wash the cabbage thoroughly, remove the core, and slice it into strips about 2-3 cm long. Place the sliced cabbage in a mixing bowl. Slicing it not too thinly will help maintain a nice crunchy texture.

Step 1

Step 2

Slice the green onion into small, thin pieces. You can use both the white and green parts for a more aromatic flavor.

Step 2

Step 3

Gently rinse the acorn jelly under running water. Cut it into bite-sized pieces, about 1.5-2 cm thick and long. Be careful not to cut them too thinly, as they might break apart.

Step 3

Step 4

Mince the 2 cloves of garlic finely. Minced garlic is essential for building a rich flavor base for the seasoning.

Step 4

Step 5

Add the sliced cabbage, cut acorn jelly, and minced garlic to the bowl. Sprinkle in 1 tablespoon of sugar. Sugar not only adds sweetness but also helps to soften the flavors of the other ingredients.

Step 5

Step 6

Add 2 tablespoons of gochugaru (Korean chili flakes). If you prefer it spicier, feel free to add a little more. Gochugaru provides the vibrant color and pleasant heat to the dish.

Step 6

Step 7

Pour in 5 tablespoons of soy sauce and 1.5 tablespoons of sesame oil. Add all the sliced green onions you prepared.

Step 7

Step 8

Gently mix all the ingredients together, ensuring the seasoning is evenly distributed over the acorn jelly and cabbage. Toss carefully to avoid breaking the jelly. Your delicious acorn jelly salad is ready to be enjoyed immediately, or you can chill it in the refrigerator for a refreshing taste.
