Rocket Skewer Ingredients

  • 1 pack of fish cake sausages (Cut into child-friendly bite-sized pieces)
  • 1 red bell pepper (Wash thoroughly, remove the stem and seeds)
  • 4 green grapes (Wash and pat dry)
  • 4 blueberries (Wash and pat dry)

Supplies

  • 2 skewers (Using skewers with blunt tips is recommended for safety, so children don’t get hurt.)

Rocket Sauce (Optional)

  • 1 Tbsp Tonkatsu sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Mustard sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Ketchup

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Let’s prepare the red bell pepper for the body of the rocket. First, wash the bell pepper under running water. Remove the stem and bottom part, then scoop out the seeds. Now, use a knife to cut the bell pepper into triangle shapes. You’ll need two sizes: a smaller triangle for the main body and a larger one for the rocket’s nose cone. For the larger nose cone triangles, make a small cut at the base to help them stay securely on the skewer.

Step 2

Time to assemble our rocket! Start threading the ingredients onto the skewer. Begin with the smaller red bell pepper triangles. Next, thread about 3 fish cake sausages to form the rocket’s body. If the sausages are too large, you can cut them in half. Then, add a refreshing green grape and a colorful blueberry for some flair. Finally, top it off with the larger red bell pepper triangle for the nose cone, and your fantastic rocket skewer is complete! Feel free to discuss the order of ingredients with your child for a more creative touch!

Step 3

This is the final step. To make the skewers even more appealing, lightly brush some sauce onto the fish cake portions of your completed rockets. Mixing 1 tablespoon each of tonkatsu sauce, mustard sauce, and ketchup creates a deliciously sweet and savory sauce that kids will adore. Alternatively, they are delicious served plain. And there you have it – cute and tasty rocket fish cake skewers! Enjoy finishing your cooking session with your child.
