- 2 cherry tomatoes (stems removed, washed thoroughly)
- 1/4 carrot (for tree decoration)
- 2 cube cheeses (for tree topper)
Tools You’ll Need- Flower-shaped cookie cutter (or any small shape cutter)
- 2 toothpicks (to secure sausages and build the tree)
- Flower-shaped cookie cutter (or any small shape cutter)
- 2 toothpicks (to secure sausages and build the tree)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, blanch the sausages (skin on) in boiling water for about 1-2 minutes. This helps them become firmer and prevents them from bursting when you cut them.
Step 2
Take 4 blanched sausages and skewer them onto one toothpick, starting from the top. Leave about a 1cm gap between each sausage for easier cutting into a triangle shape. After skewering 4 sausages, cut each sausage into a triangle shape to create the trunk of the tree. Repeat this process with the remaining 4 sausages to make a total of 2 sausage trunks. (Tip: Be careful with the knife to prevent slipping. Adult supervision is recommended when children are involved.)
Step 3
On the very top of each sausage trunk you made, skewer a cherry tomato. This will act as the star or topper for your tree. If you don’t have cherry tomatoes, other small vegetables or fruits can also be used.
Step 4
Now, let’s add another layer to the treetop! Cut a cube cheese in half and skewer it onto the toothpick, placing it on top of the tomato. The savory cheese will make the tree’s crown look even richer.
Step 5
Finally, let’s create decorations to make the tree even more festive! Thinly slice the carrot and use the flower-shaped cookie cutter to create shapes. Gently secure these carrot flower decorations onto the sausage tree in any empty spots or desired locations using toothpicks. Ta-da! Your colorful and cute sausage tree is complete! This step is especially fun to do with children.
