Aglio e Olio Rice
Make Aglio e Olio Rice, a Menu Item from Happy Together’s Night Market
Instead of pasta, we’re using rice! This Aglio e Olio Rice is impeccably clean and savory, with an incredible nutty flavor.
Ingredients- 1 bowl of cooked rice (approx. 210g)
- 1 can of chicken breast
- 1 egg
- 3 cloves of garlic, thinly sliced
- A few slices of olives (optional)
- Olive oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the Garlic: Thinly slice 3 cloves of garlic. Heat a generous amount of olive oil (about 2 tablespoons) in a pan over low heat. Gently sauté the garlic slices until they are golden brown and fragrant. Be careful not to let them burn. Once toasted, set the garlic aside in a separate small bowl.
Step 2
Sauté the Chicken Breast: Add another tablespoon of olive oil to the same pan you used for the garlic, over medium heat. Add the drained canned chicken breast and sauté for about a minute until it’s lightly cooked through and broken up.
Step 3
Incorporate the Rice: Add 1 bowl of warm cooked rice to the pan with the chicken breast. Using a spatula, break up any clumps of rice and stir-fry, mixing thoroughly with the chicken. Continue to stir-fry until the rice grains are well coated with oil and slightly toasted, about 2-3 minutes.
Step 4
Add the Egg and Finish Stir-Frying: In a small bowl, whisk 1 egg. Pour the beaten egg evenly over the rice in the pan. As the egg begins to set, quickly stir-fry everything together, ensuring the egg coats the rice grains thinly. If the rice starts to stick, you can add another tablespoon of olive oil to help it along and enhance the savory flavor. Continue to stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes until all ingredients are well combined.
Step 5
Plate and Garnish: Transfer the finished Aglio e Olio Rice to a serving bowl. Garnish the top with the reserved fragrant toasted garlic slices and a few olive slices, if using. This adds a beautiful presentation and an extra layer of flavor. Serve immediately while warm for the best taste!
