Air Fryer Roasted Korean Black Beans (Seoritae Bokkeum)
Easy Air Fryer Seoritae Bokkeum (Roasted Korean Black Beans)
A simple recipe to make crispy and nutty roasted Korean black beans (Seoritae) using an air fryer. These are delicious as a healthy snack on their own or as a side dish for rice.
Ingredients- 2-3 cups Korean black beans (Seoritae)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the Seoritae beans. Rinse them 2-3 times under running water to remove any dust or debris. To ensure they aren’t too hard when roasted, soak the beans in water for at least 2 hours. (Soaking them overnight is also fine.)
Step 2
After soaking, drain the Seoritae beans thoroughly using a colander. It’s important to remove as much water as possible, as residual moisture can make them soggy. Spread the drained beans evenly in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are in a single layer and not overlapping. Roast at 185°C (365°F) for 10 minutes for the first round. If your air fryer has a stirring function, you can leave it as is. Otherwise, open the lid midway through to stir the beans. This helps them roast evenly and prevents burning.
Step 3
After the initial 10 minutes of roasting, check the beans. You should start to see the skins splitting in half and the vibrant green interior becoming visible. Continue roasting at the same temperature of 185°C (365°F), but increase the time to 15 minutes for this second round. This will help them achieve a crispier texture.
Step 4
After the second 15-minute roasting period, check the beans again. If they are not yet as crispy as you’d like, roast them for an additional 5 minutes. Keep in mind that air fryer models vary in temperature and cooking time, so it’s best to check the beans periodically to prevent them from burning while ensuring they reach your desired crispness.
Step 5
Once roasted to perfection, transfer the Seoritae beans to a wide plate or tray. Spread them out evenly to cool completely. This step is crucial for achieving a truly crunchy texture. If you eat them while they are still warm, they will lose their crispness. Store the cooled, golden, and crispy roasted beans in an airtight container or jar for a delicious snack that lasts.
Step 6
Congratulations! Your Air Fryer Roasted Korean Black Beans (Seoritae Bokkeum) are ready. Enjoy this delicious and healthy snack!
