Anchovy Rice Balls
Simple and Delicious Anchovy Rice Balls Recipe
I made these anchovy rice balls using the stir-fried anchovy recipe I shared earlier. The kids absolutely love them, and lately, we’ve been having them for breakfast every morning! ^^ This is a recipe guaranteed to be delicious.
Ingredients- 1.5 bowls of cooked rice
- 1 sheet of seasoned pickled radish (for kimbap)
- 4 Tbsp of stir-fried anchovies
- 1 Tbsp of sesame oil
- Sesame seeds
- 1 handful of seasoned seaweed flakes (or 1.5 sheets of seasoned roasted seaweed)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, take one sheet of seasoned pickled radish meant for kimbap. Rinse it briefly under running water, pat it dry, and then finely mince it into pieces smaller than a grain of rice. If the pieces are too large, the texture might not be as pleasant when chewing.
Step 2
The stir-fried anchovies I used are the sweet and spicy jiri anchovy stir-fry from my recipe @7010444. Finely chop these stir-fried anchovies with a knife until they are about the size of a grain of rice. Softening any hard or thick parts of the anchovies will make them easier for children to eat.
Step 3
Now, in a large bowl, add about 1.5 bowls of warm cooked rice. If the rice is too hot, the seasonings won’t mix well, so it’s best to start when the rice has cooled slightly. Add both the minced pickled radish and the chopped stir-fried anchovies to the bowl.
Step 4
Next, add about one handful of seasoned seaweed flakes for an extra nutty flavor. If you don’t have seasoned seaweed flakes, you can crumble about 1.5 sheets of seasoned roasted seaweed and add them; this will give a similar taste and texture. If using seasoned seaweed, be aware it might be saltier than seaweed flakes, so adjust accordingly.
Step 5
Drizzle in 1 tablespoon of fragrant sesame oil to enhance the overall flavor. Adding sesame oil at the end helps preserve its aroma and makes it more delicious.
Step 6
Finally, generously sprinkle in sesame seeds and gently mix everything together with your hands until well combined. Be careful not to mash the rice grains; mix gently. Ensure all ingredients are thoroughly blended for even flavor distribution.
Step 7
Take portions of the prepared rice mixture, about one bite-sized amount, and roll them into small balls to form the rice balls. Making them bite-sized will make them even more appealing to children. Feel free to shape them as you like.
Step 8
Arrange the finished anchovy rice balls neatly on a plate. This creates a visually appealing and delicious meal or snack perfect for children. Enjoy your meal!
