Apple & Cheese Grilled Sandwich
A Delightful Brunch Featuring an Apple Sandwich and Fresh Apple Juice
Recently, a dear friend sent me a wonderful box of apples! I had been meaning to buy some, so receiving a whole box of delicious apples was a delightful surprise. Receiving such thoughtful gifts always brings me immense joy and happiness! I was so grateful for this present. This recipe transforms those sweet apples into a fantastic brunch item.
Main Ingredients- 1 Apple (medium-sized)
- 2 slices Bread
- 2 slices Cheese
- 2 slices Butter (approx. 20g)
- 1/2 Tbsp Sugar
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, wash the apple thoroughly under running water. Core the apple and slice it thinly, keeping the skin on. Slicing them thinly is key, as thicker slices will take longer to cook. Have all your ingredients prepped and measured for a smoother cooking process.
Step 2
In a saucepan over medium-low heat, melt the 2 slices of butter. Once melted, add the thinly sliced apples and 1/2 Tbsp of sugar. Sauté them together for about 5-7 minutes until the apples become soft and slightly translucent. Finally, stir in 1 tsp of cinnamon powder to create a fragrant apple compote. Be careful not to let it burn.
Step 3
On one slice of bread, place a slice of cheese. Then, generously spoon the warm, cooked apple compote over the cheese. Top with another slice of cheese. If using an oven, preheat it to 180°C (350°F) and bake for about 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the bread is golden brown. If you don’t have an oven, you can lightly butter a pan and toast the sandwich on both sides over low heat until golden.
Step 4
Lightly sprinkle a little more cinnamon powder over the finished grilled sandwich for an extra burst of flavor. Finish with a dusting of Parmesan cheese powder for added savory notes. Enjoy this delightful sandwich as a brunch treat, perhaps paired with fresh apple juice or tomato juice. (Tip: I originally thought about making an apple pie, but opted for this simpler, toast-like version, and it was absolutely delicious!)
