  • 3 Apples (thoroughly washed)
  • A little Baking Soda (for washing apples)

Ingredients for Fragrant Apple Cinnamon Honey Elixir

  • 3 Apples (thoroughly washed)
  • 400g Honey (can adjust to taste)
  • 2 Tbsp Cinnamon Powder (adds wonderful aroma)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

[Making Apple Chips] First, to thoroughly wash the 3 apples, soak them in water mixed with a little baking soda for 20 minutes. This helps remove any impurities or residual pesticides that might be on the apple skins.

Step 1

Step 2

After 20 minutes, rinse the apples thoroughly under running water and pat them dry. Then, slice the apples evenly to about 0.5cm thickness. Remove the cores as you slice. Thinner slices will reduce drying time and result in crispier chips.

Step 2

Step 3

Arrange the prepared apple slices on the dehydrator trays, making sure they don’t overlap. Set the dehydrator temperature to 70°C (158°F) and dehydrate for about 10 hours. The drying time may vary depending on the thickness of the apples and the dehydrator’s performance, so check periodically and dry until the apple chips are completely crisp.

Step 3

Step 4

[Making Apple Cinnamon Honey Elixir] Now it’s time to make the honey elixir. Wash the 3 apples thoroughly, then cut them into quarters and remove the cores. Afterward, slice them thinly, about 0.5cm thick. This allows the honey to penetrate better, making it even more flavorful.

Step 4

Step 5

In a large bowl, combine the thinly sliced apples, 400g of honey, and 2 tablespoons of fragrant cinnamon powder. Gently mix everything together with a spatula or spoon, being careful not to mash the apples. It’s important to ensure the honey and cinnamon powder evenly coat the apple slices.

Step 5

Step 6

Transfer the mixture into a sterilized glass jar (make sure it’s completely dry). Leave a little space at the top of the jar. Close the lid and let it sit at room temperature for one day to allow the flavors of the honey and apples to meld. After one day of maturation, store it in the refrigerator. When needed, dissolve it in warm water or tea for a soothing throat drink. You can also top your finished apple cinnamon honey elixir with the apple chips for an extra touch of flavor and texture.
