Main Ingredients

  • 2 medium potatoes
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 tsp salt

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Wash the potatoes thoroughly and cut them into large chunks without peeling. Place the cut potatoes in a pot with 3 cups of water and 1 teaspoon of salt. Boil until the potatoes are completely tender. Boiling the potatoes in salted water helps enhance their natural sweetness and results in a more delicious cooked potato.

Step 1

Step 2

Once the boiled potatoes are fully cooked, drain them completely in a colander. Be careful not to rinse them under cold water. Letting them sit and steam dry in their own heat will help remove excess moisture.

Step 2

Step 3

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add 1/3 tablespoon of minced garlic and sauté until fragrant. Garlic burns easily, so keep the heat low and cook just until the aroma is released, being careful not to let it brown.

Step 3

Step 4

Add the drained potatoes to the pan with the fragrant garlic and sauté until they turn a golden brown color. To prevent the potatoes from breaking apart, avoid stirring too frequently. Instead, gently move them around with a spatula or shake the pan.

Step 4

Step 5

Once the potatoes start to develop a nice golden-brown color on all sides, add a pinch of black pepper and 2 pinches of dried rosemary for extra flavor. You can use any herb you prefer, such as thyme, oregano, or dill. If using fresh herbs, use them in moderation as they have a more delicate flavor than dried ones.

Step 5

Step 6

When the potatoes are nicely browned all over, add 1 tablespoon of butter. As the butter melts, it will coat the potatoes, adding a rich, savory flavor. Cook over low to medium heat to prevent the butter from burning.

Step 6

Step 7

Finally, sprinkle 1/2 tablespoon of grated Parmesan cheese over the potatoes. The cheese will melt, adding a delicious umami flavor and seasoning the potatoes. If you don’t have Parmesan cheese, you can add a little more salt, or for a sweet and savory twist, drizzle a bit of honey or maple syrup to your liking.
